Name: Allan Smith
DJ Name: DJ Terror
Age: 26
Location: Newcastle
Styles: Hardcore, Hardstyle, Gabber, Speedcore, Upfront Hardcore, Hardcore-Techno.
In 1993 Terror got his first set of decks at the tender age of 13,A set of belt drives that wernt even worthyof Jimmy Saville using but it was a start of things to come. His influences back then were the likes of Dj Ss and Krome and Time,These were unleashing some wicked old skool breakbeat hardcore tunes so this was a good choice
for terrors cutting and chopping dj,ing style,Lenny Dee,Bassgenerator,MarcSmith,Technotrance, Stu Allan
and Scott Brown were playing alot of the early bouncy hardcore at the Rezerections and Fantazias so there was
anouther fresh style to mix with. After 6 months of hard practice and a good natural ear for music the beatmaching side of it was sorted, mixtapes were getting handed out constantly to freinds, promotersand some tapes were being sold in the local record shops aswell.Following all this word was spreading well and the odd booking would come in,playing youth clubs and obscene amounts of house parties, basically anywhere to show people what he could do.
At 15 his first "proper" gig was at a big open warehouse in Northumberland,Ravers cram packed from back to front, a brilliant atmosphere and a mad crowd totally up for it,Nervous as hell he got stuck in and ended up dropping theProdigys "Ruff in the jungle" and the place errupted. That was a confidence boost to start aiming for some bigger events.
In 95 he went to Judgement Day,A rave which was held in Newcastle, hed watch the likes of Bassy G and Smurf smash the place up every month and new this was an event he had to play. After handing in stacks of tapes a letter was sent from
Bass Generator asking to play a set as not alot of the local dj,s were playing Dutch Hardcore at the time. The set went really well and a few weeks later he was asked to be a new resident in the Gabber room !
It didnt take long to build up a following at JD as he covered Dutch-hardcore,Gabber and Hardcore-Techno.His live dj sets at Judgement Day were sold on tapes at all the local shops through out the North East and HMV were selling a ridiculous amount every weekend.Lots of crazy, perculiour and absolute mayhem nights were played at JD
in Newcastle,South Shields and Scotland but unfortunatly the event come to a finish in August 2000.
From then on the hardcore scene went down hill in Newcastle,There was none what so ever so many of the dj,s work just dried up.Through the scene taking a knock other styles of music were on the agender to take a pop at, so Terror decided to start playing hard trance, hard house and the occasional trance set to see if it would effect his bookings and gain more.
Sure enough the bookings rolled in playing sets in the Nort East,North West and down South at Camden Palace,London.Playing all these diferent styles at the time was showing promoters how versatile he could be as a dj and not being pigeon
holed as anything specific.Macca,Terror,Power and fat Dave started what was meant to be a dj agency called Prymalvinyl dj,s based in the wirral.Dave was meant to take care of the bookings and the dj,s do the buisness,,however no decent gigs came
so Macca and Power carried on with PV and Terror started work on a new site called the Cave ov hardcore,Back in Newcastle the hardcore scene was still the same,,none existent but events were starting to pick up through out the Uk so Terror was
back in to his much loved scene as the contacts were building through the site and the internet in general.
In 2003 he met a promoter called Davie B who was putting a Trance,Hardhouse and Techno night on in Newcastle,After turning up at World Headquaters he played a blistering Hardstyle set turning a few heads, and gained a good freindship
with the promoter,More events and residencies were gained in and around Newcastle and then they decided to put there own night on in Whitley Bay,After 4 events the manager of the bar pulled the plug and that was that.As time passed by Terrors
C.o.h. website was coming together nicely and getting more and more hits every month and the demos were being circulated. The hardcore and gabber sets came at places like Liverpool,Northamptonshire alongside Kurt,Sharkey and Gammer, and sets in Huddersfield.Through working as a moderator on www.ukscene.info Terrors managed to secure loads of interviews with the likes of,Joey Riot,Stormtrooper,The Dj Producer,Infared,Rv2,Marc Smith,Dj Hujib,Dj Macca,Mc Hybo, and theres a shed load more to come,Aswell as playing numerous underground and established events hes played guest slots on various internet radio
stations such as www.hardcorerevolution.net and www.hardcoreunited.co.uk. His bookings for 2007 are flowing in and the sites
getting 1500 hits a month and its had 13000 in total,Terrors opened a C.o.h merchandise shop on his site to incorprate in to
his dj,ing. If he was given a top notch venue and the phatest sound system on the planet he could deliver a full on dj set to tickle your taste buds,Maybe hardcore, maybe the sickest speedcore, but either way his cutting and chopping technique will
make your mouth water and will guarantee a good show wherever he plays !
